On The Record
In the late 1700s, the Quaker Ellicott brothers moved from Pennsylvania to Elder’s Landing, Maryland … to build a flour mill on the banks of the Patapsco River--larger than typical grist mills nearby. Architectural historian and author Henry Sharp argues that the Ellicott brothers’ mill played a key role, not just in the growth of Maryland, but also in the Industrial Revolution.Henry Sharp will be speaking at an event on March 19th at the Charles E. Miller Branch Library at 7 pm. Information and registration here. Henry Sharp will be back in town in September 7th at the Museum of Howard County History. Detail here.
